Project Description:

Borrowing liberally from those established by the Georgia LTCOP, we developed performance standards around the NORS "Other Activities" for the local entities. The areas for which we developed standards are: (1) facility training; (2) community education, (3) volunteer recruitment; (4) resident council participation; (5) family council participation; (6) survey participation; (7) volunteer recruitment; and (8) the response time for consultations to individuals.

The standards are written into the contract and we have developed an enforcement scheme around that the standards that includes such possibilities as de-designation, withholding funds or asking for a "plan of correction." The standards had to take into account the great deal of diversity in the size and budget of the local entities.

The customized computer reporting system that we have had designed for the NORS report allows entities to see and to track their progress toward the standards at the touch of a button.

Impact of this Activity:

We hoped to increase the overall performance of some activities throughout the state and to increase the consistency in the performance of the local entities. We also have clear criteria for enforcement when performance becomes an issue.
