Faith Fish Retires May 7, 2003
Faith Fish proudly served as the New York State Long-Term Care Ombudsman for 10 years and an Ombudsman Representative for six years.
It is with mixed feelings she retires from the state system, but plans to continue working with the Ombudsman Program as a Board member of the National Citizens' Coalition for Nursing Home Reform (NCCNHR) and as
Chair of NCCNHR's Ombudsman Committee.
Faith reveals that she "will also do some consulting and training in between golf and catching up on some reading."
In a notice to colleagues across NY State, Faith reports, "It has been an honor to work with
[ombudsmen].... you have been my inspiration. You and the volunteers have given so much to the program and have been successful in reaching thousands of residents. You have reached beyond the impossible resulting in better care for so many residents living in long term care facilities. I have been proud to represent you on a National level and enjoyed sharing your work with other state ombudsman programs across the country. This is a strong program and will continue to strengthen as you move forward to reach out to some of the most vulnerable people in your communities."
Faith Fish will very much be missed in the ombudsman network!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In keeping with the Older Americans Month theme of "What We Do Makes a
Difference," the New York State Office for the Aging paid special
recognition to Faith and all of the ombudsmen staff and volunteers in its
Long-Term Care Ombudsmen Program (LTCOP) during Senior Citizens’ Month
festivities in Albany.
"New York State’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program is one of the most
successful and respected programs in the country," said Patricia P. Pine,
Ph.D., Director of the New York State Office for the Aging. "The local
coordinators and volunteers in this program are recognized for the dedication
and commitment on behalf of the more than 170,000 residents in long-term care
facilities throughout the state."
Representatives from each ombudsman program across the state received
certificates of recognition honoring the work of each program.
