Award in Georgia Award in Georgia
Martha Eaves Award goes to Maria Greene
Please join me in congratulating Division of Aging Services director Maria
Greene for receiving the "Martha Eaves Award" from the Office of the
State Long-term Care Ombudsman. The award was presented at the Dec 3, 2002
LTCO awards luncheon by Martha Eaves and Becky Kurtz, and it is displayed
in the Division of Aging Services reception area.
This award recognizes an individual who is not an ombudsman but who has made
"extraordinary and continuing efforts to strengthen the Long-term Care
Ombudsman Program in Georgia."
Examples of Maria's support which were presented:
-advocating for increased funding for the Program as the former executive
director of the GA Council on Aging
-as State Unit on Aging director:
-reorganizing the Office of the State LTCO within the Division to enhance
its ability to independently advocate for the interest of residents
-making sure ombudsmen are kept informed and are "at the table"
whenever resident interests are impacted.
Thanks for Maria for her unswerving support of the LTCO Program and her
constant commitment to the residents we serve!
