Ombudsman Services of Northern California (OSNC)
has been named as a winner of the California Awards for Performance Excellence
under the directorship of the California Council for Excellence. Criteria
established for this award is based on the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality
Award program. Joan Parks and Clift Wilson, Program Managers, received the
award on behalf of the ombudsman program at the awards ceremony, in Irvine,
April 19, 2002.
This Northern California long-term care advocacy
program has demonstrated excellent performance in seven areas: leadership,
strategic planning, customer and market focus (primarily long-term care
residents), information and analysis, human resource focus, process management
and results. The award promotes quality awareness and provides
organization assessment and feedback by independent examiners, primarily from
the private sector.
OSNC is the only long-term care ombudsman
program to receive this distinguished award in the nation. In
acknowledgement of the award, Joan Parks, Program Manager, stated, “How
privileged we are to be a part of such an honorable and worthwhile profession.
Each day brings new challenges along with immeasurable rewards. Receiving
this award brings awareness to the need for the provision of quality advocacy
services on behalf of the elderly.”
