This is AOA's home page where you can get current information on AoA grant programs, Older Americans Month theme and materials, and find links to many useful sites on aging.

This is an AOA website providing links to reports, charts, census tables, projections, and other sites on various aspects of older Americans and their families. 

Long Term Care Ombudsman Program Data http://www.aoa.gov/prof/aoaprog/elder_rights/LTCombudsman/ltc_ombudsman.asp

This AoA site provides data and reports on the program. Long Term Care Ombudsman efforts are summarized in the National Ombudsman Reporting System (NORS) data to include the number of facilities visited, the types of complaints handled, and the kinds of complaints filed with ombudsmen. Data has been collected since 1996 and gives a good picture of the extent of ombudsman activities nationally and in every state. A 2001 report to Congress compares national data from FY 1998-2001.

Federal Interagency Forum http://www.agingstats.gov

This is the site of the Federal Interagency Forum on Aging-Related Statistics from which you can obtain their report: Older Americans 2000: Key Indicators of Well-Being. This report covers 31 key indicators of aspects of the lives of older Americans and their families. The report is divided into five subject areas: population, economics, health status, health risks and behaviors, and health care.

The Consumer Expenditure Survey annual reports and various data tables are available on this Bureau of Labor Statistics web site.

Trends in Health and Aging http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/agingact.htm

From here, click on “Trends in Health and Aging.” This site is specifically designed to show trends in health-related behaviors, health status, health care utilization, and cost of care for the older population in the United States. It is an interactive site from which you can query NCHS’s wealth of data tables to create your own. There is also a link from this site to the Federal Interagency Forum on Aging-Related Statistics

Census Bureau Population Profiles http://www.census.gov/ftp/pub/population/www

Here’s where you can get census bureau population profiles in many different categories. Data from the 2000 census will be available in report form after September 2001.

Commonwealth Fund Reports http://www.cmwf.org

Many Commonwealth Fund reports are available on this site. For example, you may obtain: “The Roles of Medicare and Medicaid on Financing Health and Long-Term Care for Low-Income Seniors: A Chart Book on Medicare-Medicaid Enrollees in Four States.” This report has interesting information on dual-eligibles in Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Wisconsin. Clicking on “Frail Elders” and then the title of the report you wish to obtain can download this report and others.

General Accounting Office http://www.gao.gov

From the General Accounting Office home page, click on “GAO Reports,” and then scroll down to “GAO Archives.” Clicking on this link will give you a friendly search engine to find reports for which you do or do not have the title. When you find the report you are looking for you may download/print the summary or the full report for which you have a text or PDF option.

Federal Interagency Council on Statistical Policy http://www.fedstats.gov

The Federal Interagency Council on Statistical Policy maintains this site to provide access to the full range of statistics and information produced by 70 Federal government agencies for public use.

Kaiser Family Foundation Health Information www.statehealthfacts.kff.org

A new internet resource launched in August 2001 that offers comprehensive health information for all 50 states, D.C. and the U.S. territories. Can compare and rank data across states and compare to U.S. totals.  Uses tables and color-coded maps.

he Medicaid Resource Book  http://www.kff.org/content/2003/2236/ 

This book is designed to be a reference tool that provides information on who the program serves, the services it offers, and how it is funded and administered.  It includes:

-- Chapters on eligibility, benefits, financing and administration;
--  A Medicaid legislative history;

--  A Medicaid glossary; and

--  Indicies to Medicaid statute and regulations.
