Useful Ombudsman Websites

Over 200 Local and State Ombudsman Programs have websites.  These are included in the Center's state by state information for consumers.  If your site is not listed there, contact John Kafka, jkafka@nccnhr.org, to update our database.

Below are a few unique websites that you may find helpful in your work. They are informative, up-to-date, easy to use and tell viewers how to contact the program.

National Association of Local Long-Term Care Ombudsmen (NALLTCO) http://www.nalltco.org.

This emerging site contains the "Ombudsman Exchange" a NALLTCO publication bringing you news and views from local ombudsmen.

Georgia Council of Community Ombudsman http://www.gacoco.org

The Georgia Council of Community Ombudsmen's website has a new face and good information.  Sign the guest book and subscribe to their newsletter. If you have any suggestions please send your comments to their web manager.

I CARE Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program http://icare.ws

This site includes a substantive study examining program independence, called Real People, Real Problems, Real Solutions: Recommendations for the Illinois Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program.  In addition, the site has been redesigned to be more conducive to volunteersNew features on this website include the Volunteer information section, and a monthly newsletter to volunteer advocates entitled "I CARE ideas."  Comments or questions regarding the I CARE website may be directed to icare@icare.ws.

King County Long-Term Care Ombudsman (King County, WA) http://www.ltcop.org/ - a program of the Fremont Public Association (FPA)

A bright, colorful site, this one is easy to navigate and easy to read with its large fonts, deep contrasts and pictures of real people.  It is updated regularly.

Northern Virginia Long-Term Care Ombudsman (Fairfax County, VA) http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/aaa/ombud/

Myriad links ranging from explanations of what an ombudsman does to how to choose a nursing home or assisted living facility, this site even has a volunteer application.
