HHS Secretary Tommy G. Thompson will be joined by Assistant Secretary for Aging Josefina G. Carbonell and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Tom Scully to announce a new initiative using volunteer ombudsmen to promote quality care in nursing homes.

Following the announcement, they will tour Iona Senior Services, a nonprofit community organization serving seniors and their families.
