The Administration on Aging, the Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid Services, and the US Department of Health and Human Services join together to recognize the 30th
anniversary of the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program. In addition, they announce the funding
of ombudsman programs in six pilot states to work with the Quality Improvement
Organizations for improved
consumer education and quality initiatives in nursing homes.
