Digital TV Conversion

Are Your Residents Ready?

All full-power television stations in the United States must stop broadcasting in analog and switch to 100 percent digital broadcasting by June 12, 2009. Digital broadcasting promises to provide a clearer picture and more programming options and will free up airwaves for use by emergency responders.  February 17 was the original deadline for the Digital TV Conversion; however Congress recently approved an extension of the deadline.

Residents of licensed nursing homes, intermediate care facilities, and assisted living facilities are eligible to request coupons from the TV Converter Box Coupon Program. Residents must use this special nursing home application form. A family member or representative from a licensed facility may apply for one coupon on behalf of a resident, and the coupon will be sent directly to the resident.

Visit the official government Web site for more information on the DTV conversion.
