POSITION: Human Service Specialist IV, Aging (08-1505-003)

SALARY: $37,837 – $60,222 (1505/Grade 15)

DESCRIPTION: Administer the overall operation of the statewide Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, including administrative direction, technical assistance, training and education, and coordinating, monitoring and evaluating Ombudsman programs administered by area agencies on aging (AAA). The position has responsibilities for special long-term care and advocacy-related projects, and other program activities under Title VII, of the Older Americans Act.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Each candidate must possess:
EDUCATION: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
EXPERIENCE: Five years experience in any combination of the following areas of work: public budget or public personnel administration, management analysis, program planning or administrative staff work. Three years of this experience must have been specialized work in a professional or administrative capacity in a program, which provides services for or by the elderly.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS:
One year advocacy experience representing the interests of the public by investigating and addressing complaints reported by individuals or groups.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of the Older Americans Act
·
Excellent oral and written communication skills
·
Experience working with Microsoft Office 2000
·
Training experience
NOTES: Applicants may substitute education at the graduate level at an accredited college or university in a field closely related to aging at the rate of 30 semester hours per year for a maximum of two years of the required general experience. Experience in professional or technical work closely related to aging may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required four years of college education
