Project Description:
A First: All of the Montana Ombudsman (5 Regionals and 22 Locals (of whom 19 are part-time because they share other duties within the Area Agency on Aging) and all six of the former State Ombudsman convened for a banquet celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Montana Ombudsman program. Awards were given to all the former State Ombudsman (all of whom continue to work in the Aging Network in some capacity. Recogition awards were given to the Local Ombudsman who had ten or more years of service to the Ombudsman program. Door prizes were obtained by all the Regional Programs and used as incentives throughout the training.
The next two days followed with training for all the current Ombudsman. All of the Ombudsman data collection tools had been revised and training was provided on them and how it matches with the NORS training and data collection. In addition, case studies were presented and discussed. Speakers included representatives from Certification, Licensure, the Office of Public Assistance, Medicaid Fraud Division and the Elder Law Office Legal Assistance Program.

-Consistency in Data Collection and knowledge base
-Opportunities to connect with other Areas
-Rejuvenate those, especially from ‘frontier’ areas of the state
