Information Exchange with Licensing Agency
Delaware
Category: Program Management
Project Description:
Established a quarterly meeting schedule with Division of Long Term Care Residents Protection (DLTCRP). The purpose is to improve communication, and mutual information exchange as contained in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between DLTCRP and SLTCOP/Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities (DSAAPD).
DLTCRP is responsible for licensing LTC facilities. Also, it conducts facility surveys and issues reports. CMS’ quality assurance initiatives demand that DSAAPD must give assurance(s) that there is a system in place to ensure the exchange of information about LTC facilities, in the interest of quality of care, for DSAAPD clients. This information pertains to survey reports and facility deficiencies.
DSAAPD makes enquiries of DLTCRP. Response can be sporadic. CMS now demands that Waiver applications and renewal, must give assurances that deficiency information is readily available. In the absence of these assurances, CMS may deny a Waiver application or renewal.
Project Impact:
- Better understanding of the role of both divisions as specified in the MOU.
- Establish informal and formal communication between both divisions.
- Improve the response time to requests made of each division.
- Information will improve ombudsman’s awareness about all facilities and their deficiencies.
