Washington State Increases PNA

Rises to 12th in the Nation

Kary Hyre, WA State LTC Ombudsman reports that the WA State operating budget was finally passed, and awaits the Governor's signature. This budget increases the nursing home and ICF-MR PNA to $51.62 effective July 1, 2005. It moves WA from a low rank order of 28th in the nation, up to 12th. For WA residents, this is the first increase in PNA since 1988. As this was an enormously tight year for revenue, Kary and others are hopeful that because of the educational effort they undertook this year along with Resident Councils of WA they can raise it even further in subsequent years .
