New England Elder Nutrition Programs OAA Reauthorization Listening Forum

Date & Time: Friday, February 12, 2010, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

The Forum will be in two parts. The first part will be a presentation from two nationally recognized nutrition research scientists, Dr. Elizabeth Johnson and Dr. Jeff Blumberg (invited), experts on the role of nutrients and age related eye disease and antioxidants’ effect on chronic diseases. They will focus on how OAA elderly nutrition programs make an impact on seniors’ nutrition and quality of life. The second part involves individual testimonies from home delivered and congregate meal participants, caregivers, physicians, home care directors, nutrition directors and nutritionists who work with seniors daily. They will offer their perspectives and views of the importance of AoA’s core program, the national nutrition program for the elderly.
